Concord University - Athens, WV
Nathan Crook
Concord University in Athens, West Virginia is located deep in Appalachia and surrounded by natural beauty. For a number of years, the signs for the Marsh Family Memorial Carillon along I-77 have led many a traveler to a campus filled with beauty, hospitality, and the sound of Paccard bells.
The 48 Bell carillon located in the Marsh Administration Building is an important part of daily life at Concord University, so when it fell silent several months ago with serious mechanical issues, the administration began to look for a company to repair and restore the instrument.
Extensive repairs included rehanging the largest six bells to correct serious issues with the original installation. Chime Master also fabricated missing transmission components and replaced damaged carbon fiber transmission rods. Thorough maintenance and careful adjustments restored the instrument to a playable and responsive musical experience.
Chime Master is proud to have been chosen to restore the Marsh Family Memorial Carillon and to announce that the instrument is again ringing out over Athens, West Virginia.
